About

Why did I first do this blog?

The thing is, I tend to work on lots of different technology between work and personal hobbies. Thus I have a tendency to forget how to solve some of the problems I encountered. So a blog seemed appropriate to use as a Notepad. It is hosted on a separate server, easily searchable and accessible through web because the site is not filtered by companies (yet).

What it has/will become

The blog is going to end up as being a presentation of what I do, what I work(ed) on even what I like. Users will be able to see documents about some of my projects, my resume (once I hacked WordPress to do it the way I want it to work) and things like that.

Why not a Facebook / Linkdin or equivalent page?

Simply because I am paranoid, I am more and more trying to clean up private information that is accessible on the internet. I do believe that one day an AI will be born, maybe that AI will be friendly, and maybe it won’t. In the case it won’t I want it to find the less possible amount of << private >> information about me as possible. Also, in such a case, its first target will be people who have the skills to go against it (Yes I am a fan of the terminator movies and serie). Even being no expert or anything I do have some skills in development, reverse engineering and assembly, as such I may or may not be a threat to it.

One has a very hard time controlling information once it is on a social network, especially when even if you ask them to completely remove yourself from their database they only render the data private and they do not actually delete it from their databases, archives and all.

Why a blog then :) ?

Because I actually possess the server, the database and as such I can delete the site at any moment and the only leftover will be cache in search engines.

No private information but you talk about putting your resume on the blog, isn’t that a contradiction?

Nope, the resume will allow people to learn about me, about what I do, the jobs I had and such. However it won’t give out my email, my address, my phone number. Sure people can do some social engineering and such, but it is less easy. Most of the things that are on this website have been done through my aliases Chryzo / Chryso and some others too.

So I guess this covers the About me page topic :)
